Birding the Magnificent Swartberg Mountain
If you are a birder, then you cannot miss out on this amazing experience. The Swartberg Mountain is home to a number of endemic species and will not disappoint.
Join us for a morning of birding through this World Heritage Site. We offer a hop-on guiding experience leaving from your guesthouse in Oudtshoorn and taking you on a casual drive up the pass, stopping to observe birds, proteas and some of the awesome views.
We will arrange with your guesthouse to pack your breakfast so that you can enjoy it on the pass. On occasion we may get out of the vehicle and take a short walk to get a closer look.
Look out for the following on your trip with us: Birdlife SA’s Bird of the Year 2021, the Cape Rockjumper, Ground Woodpecker, Cape Sugarbird, Cape Siskin and the Orange-Breasted Sunbird as well as many more. Don’t forget to look up at the skies for the resident Verreaux’s Eagle and Jackal Buzzards as well.
Remember to bring your binoculars, camera and a bird book if you have one. If not, don’t worry we will share ours.
